CLAUDIO WILLER
Claudio Willer ( born 1940, Sao Paulo ) is a Brazilian poet, essayist and translator.
His devotional association with transgressive literary creation and rebellion, like that represented by both Surrealism and the Beat Generation, has made him one of Brazilian literary scene’s most influential countercultural writers and thinkers. His works revolve around strange religions, hermeticism and modern poetry. Willer also has translated such poètes maudits and rebels as Lautréamont, Antonin Artaud, Allen Ginsberg, Octavio Paz, among others; besides, he has organized dozens of anthologies and essays on Surrealism and Beat Poetry ( Geração Beat, published by L&PM Pocket, 2009 ), and the relation of Magic and Hermeticism to poetry.
His 2004 poetry anthology Estranhas Experiências ( "Strange Experiences" ) covers his poetic production throughtout his whole career, evoking such books as The Gardens of Provocation ( Jardins da Provocaçao ), Notes for an Apocalypse ( Anotaçoes para um Apocalipse ) and Poems to be read aloud ( Poemas para ler em voz alta ), - all written in Brazilian Portuguese.
